Altruistic

At Phoenix Sustainable Investment Holdings, we believe that success is not only measured in financial returns but in the positive impact we create in the world. Our Altruistic division reflects this belief, embodying our commitment to giving back and supporting causes that truly matter.

From climbing Everest Base Camp to raise funds for the Helen Hick Stroke Foundation, to investing in cutting-edge health technology, we actively pursue initiatives that improve lives and communities. These aren’t just charitable gestures, they are deeply aligned with our values of empathy, innovation, and long-term social good.

A powerful example of this commitment is our lead investment in Upfront Diagnostics, a medical technology company based in Cambridge that is revolutionising stroke diagnosis. Upfront has recently secured $4.3 million in funding, led by Phoenix and supported by Cambridge Enterprise Ventures and SBRI Healthcare.

Upfront’s flagship innovation, LVOne, is a rapid, fingerstick blood test capable of diagnosing Large Vessel Occlusion (LVO) strokes, the most severe and life-threatening form of stroke – in just 15 minutes. This breakthrough has the potential to dramatically reduce stroke-related deaths and disabilities, particularly in urgent and remote care settings.

Our investment will help accelerate the commercial rollout of LVOne across the UK and Europe, support regulatory approvals in the US, and fuel continued research into faster, more effective diagnostic tools. As Dr Tito Bacarese, Chairman of Upfront, notes:

“We are grateful to have the backing of a prestigious group like Phoenix Investments, whose support will enable Upfront to impact thousands of lives.”

Through initiatives like these, we aim to transform lives, not just through financial contributions, but by backing pioneering solutions that create systemic, lasting change.

Whether it’s fundraising, volunteering, advocacy, or strategic investment, our Altruistic division channels our resources into causes that matter. This is not just about corporate responsibility, it’s about creating a legacy of compassion, innovation, and hope.
