Flood Technology Group achieves long-held ambition to collaborate with Radio Data Networks on UK flood resilience projects.

Yorkshire’s Flood Technology Group has announced that it will be working in partnership with Hertfordshire-based Radio Data Networks, which offers a prestigious portfolio of British designed and manufactured technology to detect, report and mitigate the impacts of flooding, on a series of UK flood resilience projects.

This exciting development means that Flood Technology Group is now able to offer a highly advanced Flood Early Warning System to any site at risk of flooding. The Flood Early Warning System works seamlessly with Flood Technology Group’s other products, including its ground-breaking Flood Adaptive Platform.

Andrew Parker founded Flood Technology Group in 2023 after spending more than a decade designing, building and testing his innovative flood adaptive technology after witnessing first-hand the devastation that flooding causes. When Andrew first met Radio Data Network’s Founder and Chief Executive Brian Back at an event several years ago, he quickly realised that there was enormous potential for them to collaborate.

He explained: “I met Brian back in 2017, when I was in the process of developing our Flood Adaptive Platform technology.  I immediately recognised the potential for us to combine Radio Data Network’s highly advanced sensor technology with our Flood Adaptive Platform to help protect people, property and infrastructure in areas at risk of flooding.

“Since that first meeting, our Flood Adaptive Platform has undergone rigorous tests and been successfully applied to both modular buildings and mobile homes/caravans. In fact, seven years on from that first conversation with Brian, we’re now in the process of rolling our unique flood adaptive technology out to holiday parks in riverside and coastal locations across the UK, and our long-held ambition to work in partnership with Radio Data Networks is finally coming to fruition. We’re absolutely delighted to be in a position where we can bring these two innovative products together; it’s a milestone that I’ve been working towards ever since I first met Brian.”

Brian Back, Founder and Chief Executive of Radio Data Networks, said:

“The Flood Early Warning System that Flood Technology Group is now using as part of its flood resilience projects at UK holiday parks is already used extensively in the utility sector to report flooding in sewers, and in the rail sector where the same sensors are deployed by both Network Rail and Transport for Wales. They are also used by the likes of the NHS, and major retailers, including Lidl.
“The fact that Andrew has not only finished developing and testing his Flood Adaptive Platform, but has also founded Flood Technology Group to bring it to market is a real testament to his tenacity and determination. I know that this hasn’t been an easy journey, and I wish Andrew and his team every success for the future. We’re delighted to be working with them.”

The Flood Early Warning System can be customised to a site owner’s specific requirements by Flood Technology Group’s team of flood risk experts, providing them with highly accurate updates as a flood event unfolds to support the timely and safe evacuation of people before flooding actually occurs. It uses unobtrusive, state-of-the-art, smart water sensors, which are deployed at strategic locations around a site. Flood warning communications can be sent by text message, telephone call, WhatsApp message or via a range of other digital platforms, depending on a site owner’s preferences and requirements.

The Flood Early Warning System’s integrated smart camera has night vision functionality, providing additional reassurance and helping site owners to make informed decisions in a flood emergency. All sensor status and flood warning information is stored securely and can be accessed remotely via a live digital dashboard. The Flood Early Warning System operates 24 hours a day for 365 days of the year, giving complete peace of mind to both the owners and residents of any site at risk of flooding.
