Passionate about creating homes that are fit for the future, Sean Wilson is helping to drive the delivery of more sustainable, energy-efficient and resilient communities across Phoenix Sustainable Investments and Ardena Homes.
As Group Technical Director, Sean leads the technical strategy behind the Group's land promotion, development and investment activities. Drawing on more than 30 years of experience across architecture, construction and technical leadership, he plays a key role in ensuring projects are designed, assessed and delivered to meet the highest standards of quality, sustainability and long-term performance.
Working across Phoenix Strategic Land, Ardena Homes and the wider Group, Sean is responsible for overseeing technical due diligence, infrastructure planning, risk management, sustainability initiatives and strategic project delivery. His team supports projects from initial site appraisal through to construction, helping to identify opportunities, manage technical risk and address challenges ranging from drainage and utilities to environmental constraints and regulatory compliance.
Since joining the Group in 2023, Sean has played a leading role in advancing the sustainability agenda across Phoenix Sustainable Investments and preparing Ardena Homes for the Future Homes Standard. Working closely with colleagues across the Group, he has helped shape the design, specification and delivery of future-ready homes that reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, help homeowners live more sustainably and lower running costs.
He is particularly passionate about helping to shape the next generation of future-ready homes through the integration of sustainable design principles, low-carbon infrastructure and innovative approaches to energy, water and resource efficiency. His work focuses on ensuring developments are not only compliant with emerging standards, but also deliver long-term environmental, social and economic benefits for residents and communities.
Sean is also Chair of the Eastern Technical Group within the House Builders Federation, bringing together technical leaders from across the housebuilding industry to share best practice, discuss emerging challenges and help shape future policy and standards.
Prior to joining Phoenix Sustainable Investments, Sean built a diverse career spanning architecture, commercial construction and technical management. He held senior positions within architectural practices, worked on major commercial projects for national brands including Pizza Hut and Tesco Express, and successfully ran his own architectural practice.
Before entering the construction industry, Sean served for more than 14 years in the Royal Air Force as an Air Technician (Weapons), specialising in aircraft weapons systems, explosive ordnance and bomb disposal.
During the Gulf War, he deployed with 617 Squadron as part of the operational build-up before volunteering to remain in theatre throughout the conflict and subsequent clearance operations.
Working in demanding environments where safety, technical precision and disciplined decision-making were paramount, he developed the methodical and solutions-focused approach that continues to underpin his leadership style and project delivery today.
Away from work, Sean is Chair of the Heacham Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club and actively supports former service personnel through mentoring and community initiatives, including helping veterans build careers within the construction industry.
