Yorkshire-based Flood Technology Group has launched a new arm of its business called FTG Screw Piles in response to growing demand for its screw pile installation service.
Launched in November 2023, Flood Technology Group provides a comprehensive range of innovative flood resilience solutions, including the ground-breaking Flood Adaptive Platform, which has a unique ability to protect property and infrastructure by automatically lifting it above rising flood water, and a Flood Early Warning System that provides advanced notification of impending flood events.
Having initially appointed team members with knowledge and experience of using screw piles to help install its Flood Adaptive Platform, Flood Technology Group has now launched FTG Screw Piles to offer screw pile installation as a standalone service after experiencing unprecedented demand from a wide range of both commercial and residential customers.
An additional Ground Screw Installer has now been recruited to further bolster the team’s capabilities in the field. Earlier this month, Stuart Costello of Goole joined the team based at Flood Technology Group’s manufacturing and installation site at Snaith in East Yorkshire. He brings further screw pile installation expertise to the Flood Technology Group team, which now boasts more than ten years’ worth of collective experience in this area.
Simon Gilliland, Chief Executive of Flood Technology Group, said:
“We initially recruited colleagues with screw pile installation experience to install our Flood Adaptive Platform, which we’re currently rolling out to the UK holiday and residential park sector, although it can also be applied to modular buildings and used across a variety of sectors to protect a wide range of property and infrastucture.
“Because screw piles, or ground screws as they’re often referred to, can be used to replace traditional concrete foundations for pretty much any type of structure, we’ve been overwhelmed by demand for a standalone screw pile installation service. It made sense to bolster our installation team and establish our new FTG Screw Piles brand to market this element of what we do more widely.”
Tom Bell, Groundworks and Installation Manager for Flood Technology Group, explained: “If you need foundations to build some sort of structure on, you can use screw piles to replace traditional concrete foundations. They are quick, easy and less messy to install because there’s no digging involved, plus they’re much more cost-effective and environmentally friendly than using all that concrete.
“Since we established this capability within Flood Technology Group, we’ve been asked to install everything from garden rooms and outdoor kitchens to stairways, treehouses, dog shelters and more on screw pile foundations. We get involved in a mix of both residential and commercial projects, as well as lots of work at holiday and residential park sites, where we’re installing our Flood Adaptive Platforms on ground screws, because people also want things like hot tubs, decking and other structures building.”
Tom added: “We’re delighted to welcome Stuart to our growing screw pile installation team.”
Flood Technology Group works closely with UK-based First Base Ground Screws, which manufactures and supplies all of the screws piles, or ground screws, used by the team.
